orthotictechnicians.com Football Tournament 2012
On Saturday the 7th of July, Goals Soccer Centre in Liverpool played host to this years annual event of the Orthotic Technicians 5–a side football tournament. With the dire British summer of late, the sun made a surprise appearance to give everyone that feel good atmosphere and made for a great day of football!
Eight teams attended this year’s event, including the OKM team who deserve a special mention having flown in from Spain to attend. The tournament was a league format so initially everyone had to play 7 matches, this showed how fit just some of the teams are in O&P. The top 4 teams went through to the knock out stage. This excluded reigning champions of 2010, Algeos, who surprisingly or not lost 7 out of 7. At least they showed consistency if nothing else!
At the end of the league games, Head 2 Toe lead the table with 5 wins and proved to be early tournament favourites after some sterling performances. With the league games completed, the semi-finals got under way with the two debutants Head 2 Toe playing Aortha and Trust playing Kenwards. After two great semis were contested an all Merseyside final was in place with Trust facing Aortha.
A brilliant final was contested with both teams giving it there all, but it was new boys Aortha who prevailed by beating Trust by one goal to nil and taking the title for 2012.
The day was completed by relaxing with some well deserved cold beers and a presentation ceremony to crown Aortha tournament winners 2012. Prizes were also awarded to Lee Nutter from RSL Steepers in Leeds for the goal of the tournament and Jamie Maw from Sheffields Head to Toe for the most goals scored.
Everyone who attended will agree that they thoroughly enjoyed the day. All games were played in good spirit and we also managed to raise £300.00 for our designated charity Help for Heroes so a big thanks to everyone who contributed to raising this amount by taking part.
We would like to take this opportunity to also thank the event Sponsors; Nora, Delcam, Rogers, Timpsons and Renia.
This event is open to all people connected to O&P and its related professions if you want further information on how to take part then please contact [email protected] for details on next years event.
Thank you once again to everyone involved and we hope to see you again next year!

Phil Jenkins Memorial Cup – Leeds 2010
0On Saturday the 24th of July, Goals Soccer Centre in Leeds played host to this years annual event of the 5–a side football tournament. Only one team could claim the cup and this year it was the boys from A. Algeo Ltd who fought off the competition to claim victory.
There were some debutants who made an appearance at this year’s event from Sefton PCT – and after having had a taste for the competition they may have to consider training earlier next year for a chance at the trophy! MAG, Canonbury Products, RSL Steeper and Opcare also provided the tournament with teams and each did their companies proud with some fine displays on the pitch.
Due to a couple of last minute team withdrawals a league system was used this year to decide on the winning team. The teams went head to head in competitive matches confirming that everyone was out to claim the title, however it was the lads from Algeos who triumphed this year having won 5 matches and drawing 1.
The event drew to a close with the teams cooling off with a few beers and the winning team being presented with their 4th cup in 7 years.
Orthotictechnicians.com and Algeos would like to thank all this year’s participants for attending and making the event a great success, with a special thanks to John Shawcross at Timpsons for kindly donating the trophy this year. The tournament was played well with a level of talent and enthusiasm for the game and as always with great deal of camaraderie.
Hope to see you all again next year!
