This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a new initiative as the service continues to strive for excellence in patient care.
The podiatry service currently uses a CAD-CAM system which will constitute a large part of the overall manufacturing process. In addition to this, the successful applicant will be required to manufacture a range of stock insoles to be issued at a number of clinics across the service.
The role requires methodical and accurate ways of working and the ability to work from complex technical instructions. Applicants need to be able to work to deadlines and demonstrate good organisation and time management skills. The role requires both practical and problem-solving skills. This role involves operating a CAD-CAM system, grinding equipment and a range of hand tools.
You will be required to work closely with our team of Podiatrists in the provision of orthoses and insoles, therefore, good communication skills are essential to developing relationships to foster positive patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will be expected to assist the Service Manager in maintaining stock control and ensure relevant paper and electronic systems are completed for the receipt of prescriptions through to the dispatching of completed goods. It will also be necessary for the post holder to ensure health and safety policies are followed in the orthotic laboratory and to maintain a safe, clean and orderly working environment.
The opportunity is for either a band 3 or band 4 post and is subject to previous experience and qualifications. The band 3 post requires a minimum of an NVQ 3 qualification and the Diploma for band 4.
This role requires knowledge and experience in orthotic goods, in particular, the manufacturing of insoles and orthoses. Experience in a healthcare setting including contact with patients is desirable.
The successful applicant will be provided with the required training for the role including local procedures and clinical pathways; training on local equipment (including CADCAM) and systems of working.
We are committed to CPD and promoting evidence-based practice and a high standard of care throughout the service. We offer support through regular 1:1 meetings, clinical supervision, in-house CPD and ongoing training to support the development of our staff.
Please note: arrangement of an informal visit/chat prior to an interview is an essential part of the short-listing process.
